How much should a Dallas handyman spend on marketing?.

A percentage, a floor, and the point at which spending more stops helping.

· 5 min read

As a percentage, most growing home service businesses land between five and ten percent of revenue, weighted higher while they are trying to add trucks and lower once the calendar stays full on referrals.

For a handyman business specifically there is also a floor, because certain things cost what they cost regardless of your revenue. A working site, a managed profile, review requests and a place for leads to land run a few hundred dollars a month whether you did eight thousand or eighty thousand last month.

Above the floor, spend against capacity rather than ambition. If you are one person with a full week, more leads do not make you more money, they make you slower to respond and worse at follow up. The money is better spent raising the average ticket: half day rates, bundled repairs, and a proper quote for the bigger job the customer mentioned while you were there.

The stopping point is when cost per booked job stops falling as spend rises. Track it monthly. When adding five hundred dollars produces the same number of jobs at a higher price each, you have found the ceiling for that channel in your service area, and the next dollar belongs somewhere else.
