How many reviews does a Dallas handyman need?.
Enough to sit alongside the top three, with the newest one from this month.

There is no threshold number, and anyone who gives you one is guessing. The useful target is relative: open Maps, search your main service in your main suburb, and look at what the top three profiles have. That is your number.
In most Dallas suburbs that lands somewhere between forty and a couple of hundred for handyman and small repair work. Inside the loop and in the busier suburbs it runs higher. In a smaller market like Knoxville the same competitive position takes far fewer.
Recency does more work than the total. A profile with the newest review from four months ago reads as a business that may have stopped operating, whatever the count says. Two or three new reviews a month keeps the profile looking alive and keeps you moving.
Handyman businesses have an advantage here that bigger trades do not: job volume. You touch more customers per week than a roofer does, so asking every single time compounds fast. Ask at the end of the visit, while you are standing in front of the finished work, and send the link by text before you get in the truck. Never offer anything in exchange, because incentivized reviews violate both Google policy and FTC rules on endorsements.

The short version
- Match the top three profiles in your suburb, not a national number.
- Two or three new reviews a month beats a large old total.
- Ask at the job, send the link by text, never pay for reviews.
