How much does med spa marketing cost?.

What practices spend, and what the money is buying at each level.

· 6 min read

Most single location med spas spend somewhere between seven and twelve percent of revenue on marketing, and new locations regularly run higher for the first year while they build a patient base from nothing.

At the lower end that covers local search, profile management, photography and an email and text program for existing patients. The last part matters more than it sounds. Aesthetics revenue is repeat revenue, and a practice with a working rebooking habit needs to buy fewer new patients to grow.

Adding paid media pushes the number up. Injectable and laser keywords are competitive in every metro, and in Dallas, Miami and Los Angeles the cost per click on treatment terms sits near the top of local healthcare search. Paid social usually produces cheaper consults than search in aesthetics, with more variable quality and creative that burns out in weeks rather than months.

Judge all of it against annual revenue per patient rather than the first appointment. A tox patient who returns three times a year and buys filler is worth a multiple of the visit that acquired them, and spending too little to acquire them is the more common mistake.

The short version

  • Seven to twelve percent of revenue is the common range.
  • Fund retention and rebooking before adding ad budget.
  • Measure acquisition against annual patient value, not first visit.
